Best GTA 6 Mods for GTA 5
Updated 10 July 2026. A living list. We name real mods and say plainly what happened to the most famous one.
You cannot play GTA 6 in GTA 5. What you can do, on PC, is get close to the look and the setting: mods that rebuild Vice City inside GTA V, graphics overhauls that approximate the trailers, and fan-made Jason and Lucia character models. Here is what actually exists and works today.
The mods worth installing
Vice Cry: Remastered is the one to start with. It rebuilds the whole classic Vice City map inside GTA V, with remastered textures, lighting and interiors, and it is the most complete map mod of its kind that is still available. Be clear about what you are getting: this is the Vice City of 2002, not GTA 6's, but it is the same city.
Install Atlas alongside it. It adds a GTA V-style paper map and a working radar for Vice Cry and Vice City Overhaul, which ship without a usable minimap. It fixes the single thing that makes the map feel unfinished.
For the look, the two options are graphics overhauls. NaturalVision Evolved rewrites lighting, weather, reflections and materials, and it is the closest anyone has got to the GTA 6 trailer look on GTA V's engine: heavy, and worth it. QuantV is the alternative, with a built-in ENB and ray-tracing-style shaders, lighter on older hardware and easier to configure.
Last, there are fan-made Jason and Lucia player models. They are cosmetic and imperfect, and they are the fastest way to see the pair in motion before November.

What happened to Project Vice
Project Vice was the ambitious one: a YouTuber called Dark Space spent months porting GTA 6's actual map into GTA V. It looked extraordinary. It is also gone.
On 23 March 2025, shortly after the showcase video went up, Take-Two issued a copyright claim. The video came down, Dark Space pulled the download and stepped away from GTA 6 mods. The likely reason, which the creator himself accepted as fair: the recreation leaned on the community mapping project, which reconstructs Vice City from leaked coordinates rather than from trailer footage.
Any page still recommending Project Vice as a download is out of date. Any page offering you a copy is offering you something Take-Two has already removed once.
Is modding GTA 5 safe and legal?
Single-player modding of GTA V has been tolerated for a decade. Two rules keep it that way: never load mods in GTA Online — that is a ban, and the anti-cheat does not care about your intent — and never install a mod that recreates leaked material, which is exactly what got Project Vice removed.
Keep a clean copy of your game files before you start. Most "it broke my GTA V" stories are a mod manager overwriting something without a backup.
Will there be real GTA 6 mods?
Eventually, on PC. GTA 6 launches on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S only, consoles do not load third-party mods, and Rockstar has not announced a PC version — see is GTA 6 coming to PC.
