Take-Two promises more GTA 6 reveals after Netflix: "appetizers, main course and dessert to follow"

The question hanging over 27 August has been whether the Netflix showcase is the last big look at GTA 6 before it ships. Take-Two's CEO has now answered it. Speaking to GamesIndustry.biz, Strauss Zelnick called Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look "one of the hors d'oeuvres" and added: "There's appetizers, main course and dessert to follow."

Zelnick did not attach dates or formats to any of those courses. But the sentence does something the announcement of An Extended Look never did: it confirms, on the record, that more reveals sit between the Netflix premiere and the game's 19 November launch. Whatever plays on the 27th, it is not the finale.

What Zelnick said, and where

The menu metaphor comes from an interview with GamesIndustry.biz, published in the days after Take-Two's 7 August earnings report and picked up widely on Monday. It fits a pattern of Zelnick talking around the showcase without describing it. In a video interview with Bloomberg's Jason Schreier on 7 August, he said the premiere would "feel like watching a Netflix show", and defended the platform choice with a tease: "There's reasoning behind this. I think when the title is launched on Netflix, if you watch it, you'll understand more."

The same week, Zelnick told analysts that GTA 6 pre-orders have been "unprecedented and astonishing", while declining to share a number. Our breakdown of the pre-order figures covers what is actually on the record there, which is one adjective more than a count.

Rockstar has never ended a campaign on the gameplay video

The metaphor lands on a real pattern. In Rockstar's last two launches, the dedicated gameplay showing arrived around three months out, and the campaign still had at least one course left after it: a launch trailer, cut close to release.

GTA V's Official Trailer landed nineteen days before that game shipped. Red Dead Redemption 2's launch trailer came eight days out. If GTA 6 follows the same rhythm, the first two weeks of November are the natural slot for a final trailer, and Zelnick's "main course" has an obvious reading in the launch itself.

An Extended Look sits twelve weeks before release, in the same stretch where both of those gameplay videos lived. Rockstar has not called it a gameplay reveal, a distinction the announcement was careful to keep, but the calendar position is the one it has used for that job twice.

The dessert course is the interesting one

If the appetizers are more videos and the main course is 19 November, the metaphor leaves dessert for after launch, and there is a clear candidate. Rockstar has said nothing about GTA 6's online mode, and according to Bloomberg's Schreier, Take-Two is "not planning to talk anytime soon about what the new GTA Online will look like". The company sold GTA V as a single-player game and switched Grand Theft Auto Online on two weeks later; Red Dead Online followed its game by a month. Our GTA 6 Online hub tracks that history and what little is confirmed.

There are other unserved plates. The game is only announced for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, and a PC version, which GTA V and Red Dead Redemption 2 both received well after their console debuts, has never been mentioned. None of this is promised by a food metaphor, and it would be a mistake to read a menu as a roadmap. What the quote establishes is narrower and still useful: the marketing plan has more entries than the one date on it.

What is actually on the calendar

Confirmed and dated, there are exactly two things: An Extended Look on 27 August, on Netflix at 3 PM ET and free on YouTube and the GTA VI site six hours later, and the launch on 19 November. Between those dates, nothing has a name or a time. Take-Two's next earnings report, due in early November, is the other fixed point worth watching, two weeks before release and the last natural moment for a pre-order number before launch week.

Zelnick's menu is the first official confirmation that the space between will not stay empty. The Trailer 3 question, whether that label ever gets used again, is still open.

Frequently asked questions

How many more GTA 6 trailers are coming before launch?

No number is announced. Strauss Zelnick told GamesIndustry.biz that the Netflix showcase is 'one of the hors d'oeuvres' with 'appetizers, main course and dessert to follow', but he named no dates or formats. Precedent points at least one more way: GTA V and RDR2 both got a launch trailer within three weeks of release.

What exactly did the Take-Two CEO say about the Netflix showcase?

Speaking to GamesIndustry.biz, Zelnick called An Extended Look 'one of the hors d'oeuvres' and said 'There's appetizers, main course and dessert to follow.' In a separate interview with Bloomberg's Jason Schreier, he said the premiere would 'feel like watching a Netflix show'.

When is the next GTA 6 reveal after August 27?

Nothing after 27 August has a date. Rockstar's own history puts a launch trailer nineteen days before release for GTA V and eight days before for RDR2, which would point at early November 2026, but that is a pattern rather than an announcement.

Will GTA 6's online mode be revealed before launch?

It looks unlikely. According to Bloomberg's Jason Schreier, Take-Two is not planning to talk about the new GTA Online anytime soon, and the game is being sold as a single-player experience. GTA Online launched two weeks after GTA V, and Red Dead Online a month after RDR2.

Where can I watch the GTA 6 Extended Look?

On Netflix on Thursday 27 August at 3 PM ET, at netflix.com/GTAVI, with any subscription plan. The same video goes up free on Rockstar's YouTube channel and the official GTA VI site at 9 PM ET, six hours later.
