GTA 6 Trailer 3 rumored for Thursday 6 August, the day before Take-Two reports

For the first time since Trailer 2, the GTA 6 conversation has a specific day attached to it. Tom Henderson, the Insider Gaming journalist with years of Rockstar coverage behind him, believes the third trailer arrives this Thursday, 6 August, one day before Take-Two Interactive presents its quarterly results. He has also been unusually careful about saying what that belief is made of, and that part matters as much as the date.
The prediction, in Henderson's own words
Henderson is not reporting a date. He is deducing one, and he says so himself: this is a personal prediction, an educated guess, and it does not come from inside information. The reasoning is straightforward. Take-Two's next investor call lands on Friday 7 August, Rockstar has a history of putting big news next to those calls, and a trailer on Wednesday or Thursday gives the publisher something enormous to talk about the following morning.
The guess also has some age to it. Back in February, Henderson said no new trailer would appear before early August. Asked again as the date approached, his answer was that he is sticking to his guns. A prediction that has survived five months without moving is still a prediction, but it is not a whim invented this week.
The second insider points at the month, not the day
NateTheHate, a source with a solid record on release timings, has been saying something adjacent rather than identical: he does not see August ending without a GTA 6 update and Trailer 3, and the only real question for him is when in the month it happens. He frames it as an expectation, and he has not attached it to any specific day.
This weekend he added a detail worth keeping. Asked whether Rockstar could skip a third cinematic trailer entirely and go straight to a gameplay reveal, he answered that he hopes Rockstar follows a marketing pattern similar to its past, and that he thinks we will get a significant look at GTA 6 during its next appearance. That phrase, a significant look, is doing quiet work: it describes substance without promising a format.
The one thing that is actually on the record
Everything above is prediction. One piece of the puzzle is official: Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick told investors that the launch marketing campaign for GTA 6 is set to begin this summer. The northern summer runs out in late September, so if that sentence holds, the campaign has to start moving within weeks.
The earnings-call pattern is real too. On 8 November 2023, the day of a Take-Two investor call, Rockstar announced that the first GTA 6 trailer would arrive the following month. The counterexample is just as real: Trailer 2 appeared on 6 May 2025 with no warning of any kind. Rockstar has done both, the pre-announced reveal and the shadow drop, which is why a date deduced from the earnings calendar is a reasonable bet rather than a pattern you can bank on.
A trailer is not the only thing that fits the hole
Here is the part of the exchange around NateTheHate that deserves more attention than the date itself. GTA 6 has been shown twice in three years, both times as cinematic trailers, plus the 63 screenshots from the June website update. Rockstar has not shown a single second of raw gameplay.
Its own history says when that changes. GTA V got its Official Gameplay Video ten weeks before launch. Red Dead Redemption 2 got its first gameplay video eleven weeks out. Those are the only two modern precedents, and they agree with each other almost to the week.
| Game | Gameplay video | Launch | Gap |
|---|---|---|---|
| GTA V | 9 Jul 2013 | 17 Sep 2013 | 10 weeks |
| RDR2 | 9 Aug 2018 | 26 Oct 2018 | 11 weeks |
| GTA 6 | none yet | 19 Nov 2026 | slot opens early Sep |
Copy that spacing onto a 19 November 2026 launch and the gameplay reveal has a natural home in the first half of September. Read against that calendar, the two insiders stop competing: a cinematic Trailer 3 this week fits Henderson's guess, and a proper gameplay showing five weeks later fits both Rockstar's pattern and the significant look Nate expects from the next appearance.
What Thursday can and cannot break
If 6 August comes and goes in silence, nothing has actually failed except a date its own author labelled a guess. The claim both insiders are really making is August, and the month has weeks left in it. The earnings call happens on Friday regardless, GTA 6 will be discussed on it, and Zelnick's summer promise keeps shrinking the window where nothing happens.
We keep the full picture in our Trailer 3 hub, updated as this develops, alongside the breakdown of both existing trailers and everything confirmed about the 19 November release. If the trailer lands, the analysis will be here the same day.
