GTA 6 on Nexus Mods: why there are none yet, and when

Updated 10 July 2026. We update this page as GTA 6 modding develops.
GTA 6 is not on Nexus Mods, and it cannot be. Nexus hosts PC mods. GTA 6 launches on 19 November 2026 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S only, consoles do not load third-party mods, and Rockstar has not announced a PC version. There is no GTA 6 to mod. Anything listed as a "GTA 6 mod" today is mislabelled, is a GTA V mod, or is something you should not run.
When will GTA 6 mods reach Nexus Mods?
After the PC version ships, and not before. Rockstar's own history gives you the shape of the wait:
| Game | Console launch | PC launch | Gap |
|---|---|---|---|
| Grand Theft Auto V | 17 September 2013 | 14 April 2015 | 19 months |
| Red Dead Redemption 2 | 26 October 2018 | 5 November 2019 | 12 months |
| Grand Theft Auto VI | 19 November 2026 | Not announced | Unknown |
Both of those PC releases were followed by an enormous Nexus scene within weeks, because the tools arrive with the community, not with Rockstar. Expect the same pattern — but note that Rockstar has not even confirmed a GTA 6 PC version exists, so the third row of that table stays empty until it says so. Our GTA 6 on PC hub tracks it.
Where will GTA 6 mods actually appear?
Three places, probably in this order:
- Dedicated GTA modding sites, which historically move first and host the tooling.
- Nexus Mods, which becomes the mainstream home once a game has a stable mod loader.
- Rockstar's own marketplace. This is the new part.
Rockstar now runs an official mod marketplace
In August 2023 Rockstar bought Cfx.re, the team behind FiveM and RedM — the roleplay platforms it had previously fought. In January 2026 it launched the Cfx Marketplace, an official, curated store where approved creators sell mods.
Two caveats worth stating plainly. The marketplace is for GTA Online and Red Dead Online, not for GTA 6, and it has no GTA 6 content. And it is a multiplayer/roleplay storefront, not a single-player mod host — it does not replace Nexus.
What it does tell you is that Rockstar's position on modding has moved from lawsuits to ownership. That is the strongest signal yet about how it will handle GTA 6, and it is a signal, not a promise.
What about "Project ROME"?
You will find pages describing Project ROME as GTA 6's confirmed official modding engine. It is not confirmed, by anyone, anywhere.
ROME is a codename surfaced by dataminers. The most credible of them tied it to GTA 5, not GTA 6. Rockstar has never announced it, never named it, and never linked it to Grand Theft Auto VI. It may well be real and it may well be excellent. Today it is a rumour with a good pedigree, and pages presenting it as a feature list are writing fiction.
Careful what you download
Search demand for "GTA 6 mods" is enormous and the supply is zero. That gap is filled by mislabelled GTA V files, by installers wrapped around malware, and by sites that want your account. Until GTA 6 exists on PC, the safe answer to "where do I download GTA 6 mods" is: nowhere.
What you can do meanwhile is play the recreations. See the best GTA 6 mods for GTA 5, and browse the community's work in our mods section — every upload is reviewed by a human before it appears.
