GTA 6 Standard Edition
The Standard Edition is the full base game: the complete Grand Theft Auto VI single-player story with Jason and Lucia in Leonida, on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. Nothing about the campaign is cut or held back. Pre-order before 20 November and you also get the Vintage Vice City Pack and a month of GTA+.
For most players this is the right purchase. Rockstar lets you buy the Ultimate Edition Upgrade separately at any point, so choosing Standard now does not lock you out of the extras later.
GTA 6 Ultimate Edition
The Ultimate Edition includes everything in the Standard Edition plus a set of exclusives that are woven through Jason and Lucia's story rather than dumped in your garage on day one:
- Vehicles: the '95 Grotti Cheetah, a Dinka Enduro motorcycle, the '67 Vapid Dominator Buggy, a Vapid Ganado low-rider with exclusive mods, a Shitzu Squalo boat and a Crest Kayak.
- Paradise Garage, a storage facility with its own weapon locker.
- Weapons: the Hawk & Little Morgan revolver as a his-and-hers pair, plus personalised sidearms — the Girardi ES9 for Jason and the Klose K17 for Lucia.
- Five exclusive shops: Rideout Customs, Sara's Unisex Salon, Stock 305, Electric Fang Tattoo and One-Eyed Willie's. Standard Edition players cannot enter these at launch.
- Apparel and ink: exclusive outfits and hairstyles, the Goodtime Gear collection, and over 50 tattoo designs created by the artist collective FAILE.
What is in the Vintage Vice City Pack?
Rockstar has not itemised it. The only official description is "a collection of items that flash back to when the neon burned brightest", and neither the Newswire post nor the store listings break it down further.
Several sites publish a confident list of its contents anyway. Treat those as guesses. We will fill this section in the moment Rockstar publishes the actual contents — this page is updated in place, not republished.

Is there a GTA 6 Collector's Edition?
No. Rockstar has announced only two editions — Standard and Ultimate — and neither is a collector's edition. There is no statue, no steelbook, no map, no physical extras of any kind.
That is a real break with the past. The GTA V Collector's Edition, released on 17 September 2013 at $149.99, came with a SteelBook, a blueprint map of Los Santos and Blaine County, a security deposit bag with a laser-cut logo key, and a New Era 9FIFTY snapback cap. Nothing comparable exists for GTA 6.
Rockstar has not said one is coming, and the way the game is being sold does not point that way either: the more expensive edition, Ultimate, is precisely the one with no physical version at all. We will update this section the day that changes — but as things stand, the Ultimate Edition is as close to a "collector's" purchase as GTA 6 offers.
Does the GTA 6 physical edition come with a disc?
No. The GTA 6 box contains a download code, not a disc. The boxed version goes on sale on 12 November so buyers can pre-load ahead of the 19 November launch, and Rockstar has not confirmed a disc-based release at any point.
Two consequences are worth understanding before you buy. Once the code is redeemed it is tied to your PlayStation or Xbox account, so there is nothing to lend, trade or resell afterwards — a boxed copy of GTA 6 is a digital copy in a cardboard sleeve. And because the Ultimate Edition is digital-only, the only edition that ships in a box is the cheaper one.
The decision reaches beyond collectors. At least one long-established retailer, Video Games Plus, has said it will not stock GTA 6 at launch because of a policy against selling code-in-box products.
Standard vs Ultimate: which GTA 6 edition should you buy?
If you want the game and the story, buy the Standard Edition. The campaign is identical, and the Ultimate Edition Upgrade stays available afterwards, so there is no rush and no penalty for waiting.
The Ultimate Edition is worth the extra $20 if two things are true for you: you customise cars and characters heavily, and you want the five exclusive shops from day one. The vehicles and weapons are a bonus; the shops are the part you genuinely cannot get any other way at launch.
Neither edition changes the core game, and neither affects performance — GTA 6 is not expected to hit 60fps on any console regardless of what you paid. For the cheapest way to buy either one, store by store, see our GTA 6 price and pre-order guide.
When can you buy GTA 6?
Pre-orders have been open since 25 June 2026. Digital pre-orders pre-load from 12 November, and the game launches on 19 November 2026 for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. There is no PC version at launch and Rockstar has not announced one — see is GTA 6 coming to PC. Track the countdown on our release date hub. And if you have seen the claim that GTA 6 has already taken 50 million pre-orders, we ran the numbers: the figure does not survive a calculator. The boxed edition, meanwhile, is the only one anyone can discount: French retailers have already cut it to €50. And whichever box you buy, there is no disc inside it: in Japan the code even stops working on 8 May 2027. The vanishing disc is now a protest in its own right, with players calling a PlayStation blackout for late August.
