November 19, 2026 · until the PS5 & Xbox launch

Updated 5 July 2026. We keep this page current as Rockstar confirms new details.
GTA 6 releases on 19 November 2026 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. That date is official, confirmed by Rockstar Games, and pre-orders have been live since 25 June 2026. Below is everything we know about the Grand Theft Auto VI release, from the exact date and pre-load to the delay history and the platforms it is (and is not) launching on.
When does GTA 6 come out?
GTA 6 comes out on Thursday, 19 November 2026, worldwide, as a digital and boxed release on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. It is a single-player story set in the state of Leonida and its neon capital, Vice City, starring the duo Jason and Lucia. The online mode is expected to follow after launch, not on day one.

Has GTA 6 been delayed?
Yes, once. GTA 6 was first announced for a broad 2025 window in the December 2023 reveal, then narrowed to Fall 2025, then pushed to 26 May 2026, and finally settled on 19 November 2026 after Rockstar asked for extra polish time. Take-Two has repeatedly reaffirmed the November date, so a further delay looks unlikely, but we will update this page immediately if anything changes.
GTA 6 pre-load and release time
Rockstar has confirmed a pre-load starting 12 November 2026, one week before launch, so the game is ready to play the moment it unlocks. Exact unlock times per region have not been detailed yet; GTA games typically go live at midnight local time or via a simultaneous global unlock. Check back here as launch approaches. In the meantime, our trailer breakdown and new features guide cover what you will be playing.
What platforms is GTA 6 on?
At launch, GTA 6 is PS5 and Xbox Series X|S only. There is no PS4, no Xbox One, no Nintendo Switch 2 and no confirmed PC version. A PC release is widely expected later based on Rockstar's history (GTA V and Red Dead Redemption 2 both arrived on PC roughly a year or more after console), but there is no date yet. We track that separately in our coverage, and a dedicated PC page is coming.
How to pre-order GTA 6 (and price)
The Standard Edition is $79.99 / €79.99 / £69.99 and the Ultimate Edition is $99.99 / €99.99 / £89.99. Pre-orders placed before 20 November include the Vintage Vice City pre-order bonus, and digital pre-orders add a month of GTA+. The physical edition is a download code in a box, not a disc. For the cheapest ways to buy, store-by-store, see our GTA 6 pre-order and price guide.
How long until GTA 6?
As of this update there are just a few months to go until 19 November 2026. This is the pre-launch stretch where Rockstar is expected to ramp up marketing, including the long-awaited Trailer 3. Bookmark this page for the countdown and the latest confirmed details. Note what launches that day: GTA 6 ships as a single-player game, and GTA 6 Online has not been announced. Planning to jump online on day one? Depending on where you live, you may be asked to verify your age first. While you wait, GTA Online gets its first planning-based Heist since Cayo Perico on 14 July — our breakdown of the Kortz Center Heist separates what Rockstar confirmed from what the internet invented. The same goes for the pre-order figures doing the rounds: nobody has counted 50 million, and nobody could. In July 2026 Take-Two reaffirmed the 19 November date in an SEC filing. With the date holding, the studio is now in the stretch where it tests the game to breaking point rather than adding to it.
Part of our complete GTA 6 guide — everything about Grand Theft Auto VI in one place. The next date on the official calendar is 27 August, when An Extended Look premieres on Netflix. The date survived its first pre-order test too: Take-Two's 7 August results reaffirmed 19 November while calling pre-orders exceptional, without giving a number.
