Who is Jason Duval, the other protagonist of GTA 6?
Jason Duval is one of the two playable protagonists of Grand Theft Auto VI, and the other half of the criminal couple at the centre of the story. If Lucia Caminos is the one pushing forward, Jason is the one who keeps hoping the easy way still exists.
Who is Jason Duval?
Rockstar's official description sketches a man who wants an easy life that somehow keeps avoiding him. He grew up around grifters and crooks, and went to the army to leave his troubled teens behind. It did not settle anything: he is now working for local drug runners in the Keys, and he is ready to try something else.
Then comes the line that frames the entire game: meeting Lucia could be the best or the worst thing to ever happen to him. Rockstar adds that Jason knows how he would like it to turn out — but right now, it is hard to tell. That is not marketing filler; it is the story's thesis in one sentence.
Where Jason lives: the Leonida Keys
Jason starts the game in the Leonida Keys, the tropical archipelago in the south of the state — Rockstar's Florida Keys. The second trailer spends real time there: the boats, the fishing, the low-rent paradise where the bars are loaded and life "isn't flashy but it's easy". It is also where the first safehouse of the pair is located.
That setting does a lot of characterisation without saying anything. Jason's problem is not that he wants too much; it is that he has settled for a life that is quietly closing in on him.
Jason and Lucia: how the couple works
Rockstar has likened the pair to Bonnie and Clyde, and the story begins when "an easy score goes wrong", dropping the two of them into a conspiracy that stretches across the state of Leonida. The trailers make the dynamic clear: this is a relationship first and a crime spree second, and the game is built to make you care about that.
What we still do not know
Plenty. Rockstar has not announced the voice cast, and it has not explained how you switch between Jason and Lucia — whether it is free like GTA V's protagonist wheel, or gated by the story. It also has not said how the relationship can change based on what you do. Anyone claiming to know is guessing; when there is something official, this page gets updated.
