GTA 5 Modding Tools
Nothing else in this section works without the tools on this page. Script Hook V is what lets script mods run at all, and it has to match your game build — which is why a Rockstar patch can take your whole setup down until it is updated. Script Hook V .NET Enhanced exists so that scripts written for Legacy can run on Enhanced. Add mod managers, archive tools and trainers, and that is the foundation. We list what each tool supports, in plain terms, because installing the wrong one is the single most common reason people think GTA 5 modding is broken. Single-player only: taking any of this online gets accounts banned.

What tools do I need to mod GTA 5?
The core tools are Script Hook V (so script mods run), OpenIV (to edit game archives) and a trainer like Menyoo. On Enhanced you usually also need Script Hook V .NET Enhanced. Each tool here says which build it supports.
Where do I download Script Hook V?
Script Hook V and its Enhanced counterpart are listed in this Tools section, with a note on which game build each version matches. Installing the wrong build is the most common reason mods stop working.
Why did my GTA 5 mods break after an update?
A Rockstar patch changes the game executable, which breaks Script Hook V until it is updated, and your script mods go down with it. Wait for Script Hook V to catch up, then reinstall.
Can I use modding tools in GTA Online?
No. These tools are for single-player only. Loading them into GTA Online is treated as cheating and gets accounts banned.
