Jason's mid 30s, Lucia not far off. plenty of criminals were up to no good as teens, boosting a boat ten years back in game time isn't a stretch. Michael himself talks about robbing stores across the midwest with Amanda when they were young
a simple robbery. they always front-load aiming and driving. Lucia gets busted somehow, we shake the cops on the way to Jason's, he's rattled, makes calls, tries to work out the next move. maybe a Tenpenny-type dirty cop starts squeezing them from minute one
flashback to Lucia's crime for the gun tutorial. Lucia in prison for the melee tutorial. Jason picking her up for the driving and phone tutorial. clean
i reckon it's a blend of both theories. i'll get roasted for this but i think the kid rumour is real, PURELY as character setup (fighting for her family), not a plot the whole game revolves around, that'd be too soap-opera even for GTA. so: prologue in a cheap-to-build interior in LC, score goes wrong, Lucia gets caught and the kid ends up with family or services. flash to prison cutscenes, a short gameplay intro, then Jason in the Keys on a Brian job, second mission ambushing a deal, back to the safehouse, then credits and theme. Jason solo until he goes to fetch her, then free switching. i'll do the proper writeup in the story thread but that's my rough first 90 minutes
