Trailer 2 opens on Jason heading out to grab Lucia as she gets released, and the official blurb says an easy score goes sideways and drags them into a statewide mess. But none of that tells us how the GAME actually opens, and R* has a ton of range here.

Half of me wants the cold open, everything already on fire, then a hard rewind to show how it got there, very them. But the more the RDR2-style chaptered thing gets floated, the more i lean toward a slow one. Open on Lucia getting out, let the two of them just breathe before the world lights up. That hits harder if the writing can carry it. What's everyone leaning toward?

my dream cold open: four straight minutes of Lucia doing nothing in a cell, ambient prison hum, no music, then one hard cut to a jetski doing a backflip and the logo slams in. zero context. let them cook

my guess: cutscene of Lucia getting processed, then some time later she's pulled into a caseworker's office and told she's out early on conditions, monitor, a job, community service. we cut to Jason at the top of trailer 2, Brian hands us the first job collecting debts, a call comes in about Lucia, next mission is prepping for her release, then you go pick her up and take her home. quiet celebration, then the loud one

opens in Liberty City for absolutely no reason lol

my money's on the prologue being the score that goes wrong. Lucia gets nicked, we get her jail cutscenes, then it cuts to Jason in the Keys and the game properly starts there. a while later she's out and the character switching unlocks

opens on Jason ironing a shirt for three hours before he goes to collect Lucia. peak immersion, GOTY

roughly where i land, similar to mjd: a small cutscene in LC, not the whole city, more a single interior like an old bistro. you take control as Lucia doing the easy score that gets her arrested. credits and theme roll over VC shots plus prison cutscenes. after the prologue you're Jason mid smuggling run for Brian, the safehouse gets introduced, Lucia unlocks a couple missions on.

two things still nag me though, the community-service-with-a-monitor angle as a prologue, and how many different prison shots there are with different hairstyles. makes me wonder if there's real prison gameplay

from the trailers i think it starts with Lucia in her final days inside, basically a self-contained tutorial for movement, fighting, climbing. then you swap to Jason in the Keys and the world opens. a few Brian jobs before he picks her up, then it really kicks off. i doubt it opens on the crime that jailed her, feels too close to V, but who knows

cold open is the failed score, obviously. plot twist though, the mark they're hitting turns out to be an aged-up Franklin who finally wanted a quiet life. he clocks them, sighs, mutters not again, and the GTA VI logo drops. i'd lose it

her bio literally says fighting for her family put her in the Leonida Penitentiary. that reads like something fairly minor, assault maybe, not a big robbery

starting with Lucia inside makes the most sense to me. a locked-down space is a clean way to teach the basics, moving, interacting, even saving by lying on the bunk. get a bit of story in there, then cut to a flashback of the store job from the leaks for gun controls. bounce between prison and points of the robbery, then a 6 months later card and Jason in the Keys running errands for Brian. you drive out to collect her and the title hits as you roll toward VC

caseworker's office, out early on conditions

this is the most likely one imo. i'm curious whether there's actual playable Lucia prison stuff or if it's all cutscenes. either way i just want a slow start, no giant heist to open, before it ramps. RDR2's Colter gets flak but i loved it, i'd have taken longer

actual playable Lucia prison stuff

imo not worth it. playable prison would be too linear to offer anything real, and cutscenes let them get creative with the camera and time skips. the whole point of prison narratively is losing your agency, every move watched. and their prisons have always been deliberately dull, no riots and shankings, which suits the series, the action lives outside in the sandbox

Lucia's dad giving her a pep talk, then the crime that lands her inside, illegal fight clubs

opens mid mission, Lucia and Jason knocking over a bank. Liberty City, midnight, alarms blaring, three stars, cops rolling in. a grab for a rare collectible falls apart, Jason slips away, Lucia gets caught. i know it's cliche and very V-prologue, but my bet is her arrest, then a jump forward to after prison

hear me out, it opens with the two of them boosting Michael's boat off Jimmy back in Los Santos, then smash cut to present day. there's a boat just like Michael's parked at Jason's place in the trailer. a cheeky final wave to V before we head into Vice City. imagine loading up VI and getting Los Santos for a second after 12 years
